Bucephal – the delay that is not meant to be used as a delay

June 11, 2012 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Bucephal – the delay that is not meant to be used as a delay

Bucephal is a delay plug-in that is not meant to be used as a delay. It gives you two parallel delay lines, each one up to 2 seconds, and lets you mangle delay times with two nice modulators.

A spokesperson told us, ” Thanks to an envelope follower and a LFO, Bucephal can fulfill some of your daily glitch needs, morphing between vibrato, flanging, pitch shifting, and crushing effects. The large modulation range of delay times can lead to some pleasingly annoying artifacts, and if your incoming audio needs even more dirt, the randomizer and waveshaper will be there to help.”

Bucephal is available for both Windows and Mac Os X, as VST (32/64 bit) and AU (32/64 bit, Mac only).

Features:

  • 2 parallel delay lines with up to 2 seconds length
  • Time parameter interpolation provides nice pitch artifacts
  • First delay line time can be controlled by an envelope follower
  • Second delay line time can be controlled by a LFO (tempo free or synced)
  • Classic waveforms for the LFO (sin, square, saw up, saw down, triangle, sample and hold)
  • 7 mix modes
  • Soft clipping and waveshaping can be applied to the output
  • Randomizer
  • Clean minimalist interface
  • Lifetime free updates for registered customers

Pterosaur – free synthesizer plug-in for Windows

June 4, 2012 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Pterosaur – free synthesizer plug-in for Windows

Contralogic has released an updated version of Pterosaur, a free synthesizer plug-in for Windows.

Pterosaur is a 16 oscillator synth. It’s loosely inspired by the classic Supersaw sound of the Roland JP-8000 in that the output of each oscillator can be independently detuned and panned, creating a very rich sound.

The basic waveform produced by the oscillators is a sawtooth wave which can be morphed into a sort of saw/pulse hybrid with the mod control.

Changes in Pterosaur

  • Polyphonic mode added.
  • More LFO shapes.
  • 3 additional oscillator waveforms (sine, triangle and square), all of which can be morphed in the same way as the sawtooth wave in the original version.

Pterosaur for Windows (VST) is available to download at no cost.

Heads up: Inpressa – new multiband compressor effect plugin

May 19, 2012 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Heads up: Inpressa – new multiband compressor effect plugin

According to Crysonic, the upcoming Inpressa multiband compressor effect plugin provides zero latency plus stereo and mono compatibility combined with the company’s unique new proprietary technology in order to deliver a one of a kind type of effect.

Crysonic notes that Inpressa offers full double precision processing natively, which employs very steep 24 dB / Oct crossover filters — virtually eliminating leakage into adjacent compression bands. All available parameters are variable supporting full automation with extreme precision control. The plugin automatically chooses the most appropriate peak detection circuit depending on the audio material being worked on, which was previously impossible to do unless you had a countless number of expensive compressors.

About the effect, the manufacturer comments, “Transcending other similar plugins of its type, Inpressa is set to achieve vintage and modern sounding professional results on individual busses and the final master mix.”

At this time, not much else is known about Inpressa; however, Crysonic does say this: “The most noteworthy part of Inpressa is expressed not only by employing a new state of the art technology but understanding and providing incredibly efficient workflow without crowding the interface with ‘most of the time unnecessary’ options. Inpressa will be available soon to increase depth, definition, and loudness of all music productions.”

More details will be revealed as we get closer to Inpressa’s release (TBD).
