The MFOS Alien Screamer Noise Box is a great introduction to synth-diy electronics. This simple circuit can really make a lot of cool sounds and it has a speaker and amp built in. It runs off of one nine volt battery and draws very little current. PC boards are available and kits will be soon also. You can find the entire project here: http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/index.php?MAINTAB=SYNTHDIY&PROJARG=ALI…

Demo of the Akai MPC-60, MFB Synth II, and EMW WCS-1

July 1, 2012 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Demo of the Akai MPC-60, MFB Synth II, and EMW WCS-1

Background information:

Here is a demo of the Akai MPC-60 Sampler/Sequencer, MFB Synth II Analog Synth, and EMW WCS-1 Analog Synth. The drums/sequencing were done by my MPC-60; the drums were sampled on the MPC using my Roland TR-808 as a sound source. The bassline is the EMW WCS-1 and the MFB Synth II is the sequenced melody. Both are sequenced by the MPC-60. The delay/echo effect is a really old Washburn analog delay. The mixer is an Alto AMX-220.

There is lots of cross-talk/hiss/noise in this recording. I personally like this, and I fully understand how I would go about eliminating this. But I would never want to.

Check out the new SynthBoy+

Listening to the sounds from the older gaming systems is a great way to both reminisce and create cool sounds for a song or just to have fun.  There is a large community that has been working with these sounds for many years and we thought we could make a hardware interface that would give more people the chance to play and hear these unique era centric sounds again.  From hard bass lines to awesome 8bit waves there will be something that everyone will enjoy.

We have lots of audio connectors on the back of the synthboy+.  Whether you are an experienced DJ or connecting it to your home stereo there are plenty of options. We have midi in and out of the synthboy+ so you can connect a midi compatible keyboard and be able to directly play the Gameboy as an instrument.  If you don’t wish to ‘play’ the Gameboy as a instrument, there is a tracker style program that allows you to enter in note information and the program will cycle through these notes and sounds. The knobs do different things depending on what you are doing.  If you are playing the Gameboy as a traditional instrument, the top three knobs allow you to quickly change parameters that will immediately effect the sound.  If you are using the tracker style program the bottom two knobs will allow you to manipulate the flow and style of your song in real time.

Death from above with a high voltage shriek: TR-Valkyrie marks, destroys, and parties upon arrival in the great beyond mountain lodge of Valhalla; Odin forbid you should drop her on your foot. Weighing in at a scale tipping mass that is now stereotypical of Brünhilde’s soprano role, the chassis was originally factory built by the of the first production Wein-bridge oscillator. Her heaven sent insides wrought of 4 pentode tubes rewired completely to suit the alchemy of a Trogotronic Custom. TR-Valkyrie performs demi-deity grade feats of analog audio generation or treatment to whatever you choose to run through this metal mother of all flying ladies adorned in helmets horned. When these original units were state of the art test equipment no expense was spared in their construction; these were the very best that money could buy and could not be had for less than a goodly Nordic treasure.
