Swedish electro/punk group Alice in Videoland will release their fourth studio album, A Million Thoughts and They’re All About You, November 2 on Artoffact Records. The album, which features a cover of Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance,” will be available exclusively as a digital release.

It’s nearly unimaginable to think about early music recording. Musicians had to record their songs in one take direct to wax/acetate records. 100 copies of an album meant recording 100 flawless takes for every musician playing together! Compare that to today and Record 1.5’s “Comp Editor.” You can cycle through recording, doing take after take after take, choosing the best parts of each, and stitching them together into one flawless performance. This week I’ll show you how.

I can’t believe it’s actually been 10 months since I lasted posted a video of me making some live techno – thanks to anyone who has forgiven me and is still watching.. :]
All sorts of great things have happened this year – I have been playing more around the UK and internationally, putting out some tracks with some really nice labels and generally just enjoying myself.
This track is inspired by a recent visit to the Warehouse Project to see an epic set by Ricardo Villalobos & Raresh – he tore the place a new one and I think this track captures how it felt for me. This time round it’s a thudding techno track – very stripped, but chunky as well. The Virus is creating all the sounds in realtime as I play it, and Ableton is providing the percussion, controlled by my UC-33e.
I love making music, but I really get my kicks when other people enjoy listening to it. Please leave a comment or any feedback that you have for me, it will be warmly appreciated.

Demo of the USB-Octomod – voltage control
Here’s a demo, via Greg Surges, of the USB-Octomod – a USB device which allows generation of computer-controlled analog synthesizer control voltages in the range of approximately +/- 5V.
The USB-Octomod is Using a small open-source and cross-platform host application, the user is able to control the 8 output channels of the Octomod through a simple OSC interface. The OSC interface allows composers, musicians, etc. to control the Octomod from their software environment of choice. PCBs, DIY Kits, and Fully Assembled Boards available at Surges’ site.

568 is the new sequencer – as you can see it is 32 steps per row. looks like they really care about putting more features on top of the existing sequencers to date. in fact not even close to “cheap” but if it feels the same as the prvious models it must be a pleasue playing it. Mond News

The optical crossfader
Ruggedness and durability is paramount in a live setting and the smooth action 45mm crossfader meets these criteria with ease. Due to it being optical it is very resilient to both dust and humidity and with a life time rated to more than 5 million operations it is definitely going to stand the test of time. The crossfader in conjunction with the Scene functionality makes live improvisation with the Octatrack easy and rewarding.
Scenes
A Scene is a set of parameter values. All parameters that can be parameter locked can also be assigned to a Scene. At all times 16 Scenes are instantly available and ready to be assigned to the two Scene slots of the crossfader. The Scene assigned to slot A comes into full effect when the crossfader is at its leftmost position and the Scene assigned to slot B comes into full effect when the crossfader is at its rightmost position. For all other crossfader positions interpolation between the Scene parameters will occur. Scenes can be both muted and assigned in real time.
Scenes controlled by the crossfader make it possible to add sudden bursts of effects to a sound, make smooth transitions between tracks, pitch one loop up while another loop is being pitched down or to completely and utterly change the sound of a whole pattern. The choice is yours.
