Elegant Machinery splits up – too bad for the SGA festival

The members of the legendary synthpop act Elegant Machinery part ways.

Steven Dornbusch, the bands manager, announced today in a press release that the band are cancelling their show at the upcoming SGA Festival in Stockholm in June. This because the band members will part ways and can’t find any solution to continue.

Last year, the band announced that they were working on a new studio album, scheduled for late 2011.

The crew of the SGA Festival are very sorry for this and will try to compensate all guests who attend the festival and wanted to see Elegant Machinery. The band who will replace Elegant Machinery will be announced very soon.

Rumors:

Rumors has it that the band has been troubled by the fact that a member in the band has been politically active in a way that is not in line with the values of the rest of the band members

Oramics featuring Daphne Oram

A brief glimpse of Daphne Oram’s pioneering and unique ‘Oramics’ synthesiser, designed in 1957 after she left the legendary BBC Radiophonic Workshop to pursue the project.

The machine, recently acquired by Goldsmiths College, is now in the hands of The Science Museum in London and is currently being restored. It hasn’t been performed since the 1970s.

If you’ve made it this far into Synth School without dropping out or changing your major to something less technical, then congratulations. You’re nearly ready for graduation day. Today we’ll be picking up where we left off with Thor’s oscillator types, namely the multi-oscillator and the noise oscillator. There’s a lot to these simple looking modules! From there we’ll move over and take a look at the filter sections in Thor and I’ll introduce you to the semi-modular routing buttons which help move signals through Thor.

I had the privilege to take part in the Spectrasonics Tribute project for the Moog Foundation.
Together with 44 fellow sounddesigners like Eric Persing, Hans Zimmer, Richard Devine, Jean Michel Jarre, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jordan Rudess, Jan Hammer, Eddie Jobson, Diego Stocco and others i helped creating a library of 700 patches that use more than 2 GB of unique samples for Omnisphere.

LFOTool is an FX utility plug-in for VST and AudioUnit hosts for both Macintosh OS X® and Windows®. It empowers music producers to create tremolo, auto-pan, trance-gate, side-chain compressor simulation, and dubstep-type wobble effects with minimal effort.

LFOTool will process incoming audio as well as generate a MIDI message stream for controlling other instruments.

This unique plug-in also allows users to sculpt custom LFO curves and shapes and comes equipped with dozens of presets to achieve desired results quickly.

Consistent with other products in Xfer Records’ software lineup, LFOTool is coded entirely in C++ in order to minimize the CPU load during operation.
