PAKT (former And One members) releases new material after the break with Naghavi
As we reported on earlier Chris Ruiz and Gio van Oli have left Steve Naghavi alone at the helm of And One in early June – so now it is time for the two renegade members Chris Ruiz and Gio van Oli to debut their new EBM project PAKT.
The Berlin-based duo is assigned to And One’s former record label Out Of Line and the first single release “Freiheit” lands in the middle of August.
In addition to the b-side “Angriff” and the original version of the title track also includes two remixes from the record company colleagues in Formalin and Funker Vogt’s Gerrit Thomas. In addition to this another version signed by Robert Görla (better known from DAF).
“Freiheit” is released August 12th via Out Of Line.

The MiniKorg 700s is an old and simple monophonic analog keyboard from Korg. It is a dual-oscillator synth related to Korg’s first monosynth, the single oscillator MiniKorg 700. Most of the controls are located in an odd place beneath the keyboard so as to make room above the keyboard for a sheet-music stand. Some controls have bizarre names like Bender, Traveler and Expand for the auto-bend, filter and envelope, respectively.
It has three ring modulators for some strange sounds and noises. Sometimes a decent bass sound for techno music can be achieved using the MiniKorg’s hi-pass and low-pass filters. The two oscillators can be de-tuned and they offer triangle, sawtooth and square waveforms. There are some strange analog effects built-in as well such as portamento, a rudimentary repeat-delay, auto-bend (bender), vibrato and Chorus and Noise waveforms.

Kraftwerk will give further concerts with 3D theme in the fall on the 12 and 13 October – giving three concerts in Munich. Yes, you read that right! Three concerts in two days – the 13 is done including two concerts, 20.00 respective 00:00. In turn, a 3D exhibition held on 15 October.

Dancing on the Berlin Wall – Rational Youth
Legendary Canadian pioneering new wave/synthpop band Rational Youth will be releasing a series of new remix EPs on their original own ‘YUL’ label. Rational Youth existed from 1981-1986, reunited for a synth-pop festival in Sweden in 1997 and were officially revived by founding member Tracy Howe in 1998. The first MCD is “Dancing on the Berlin Wall” which will be released on August 1st. The title comes from their 1982 album “Cold war night life” of which “Dancing…” was one of the stand-out tracks.
This EP features brand new recordings of the classic song (never before issued as a single), sung in English and in German, in ‘Pure’ and ‘Euro Dance’ versions – whatever that means. Also included is an 80’s style New Wave extended dance mix. Added to that you’ll get the original version to round out the 6 track package.
The EP was produced by Tracy Howe and Bill Vorn, the original 1981 duo and mixed & mastered by Montreal producer, Jean Pierre Isaac.
