Ableton Live – QuNeo Speaks

December 31, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Ableton Live – QuNeo Speaks

First performance with QuNeo controlling sounds in Abelton Live. Pressure is mapped to repeat rate and X and Y control Filter and a Bit Crusher. Lotsa fun – we were fighting over who gets to go next.

Check out our KickStarter Page for more information: http://kck.st/taqBsn

QuNeo is a different species of pad controller for electronic musicians, DJs, VJs and DIY hackers. While it covers all of the functionality of other pad controllers, QuNeo adds the power of touch recognition in other dimensions.

Trigger Pads

16 square pads provide 127 levels of Velocity response. And X-Y location. And continuous pressure. For each pad. Times sixteen.

Rotary Sensors

2 rotary sensors allow you to scrub, trigger, stretch, pinch and play phrases and sound files, manipulate continuous controllers and more . Each rotary sensor measures angle, pressure and distance from the center.

Multi-touch Sliders

9 touch sensitive sliders can be mapped to fader and effects controls. LEDs within each slider act as VU meters or remind you where you were. Multi-touch lets you select a length between two fingers to set stereo locations or filter resonances. Tapping a slider can mute or toggle any track or function.

Switches

The switches are located in smart groupings to select samples, fader banks, and transport controls. Each of the switches can scan up and down through files at speeds variable with your touch. Great for quickly locating that perfect fill or telling your looper you really meant it.

The following demonstrates MuTheremin iPad App version 1.0. It’s a multi-touch theremin inspired synth and it’s free.

Pros: Free, Multi-Touch,cool lights

Cons: It’s buggy. You will hear clicks and noise. I used an Alesis IO dock for audio. Also tried it though headphones. Same problem.

Perhaps as no surprise to many our top post this year was our interview with Alan Wilder – Congratulations !!

Exclusive interview – Alan Wilder (ex-Depeche Mode/Recoil) talks on synths, music creation and his upcoming auction

Steelberry Clones got a talk with none other than the synth legend Alan Wilder (ex-member of Depeche Mode and now front man of the electro/synth experimental act Recoil). Few can match the track record of Alan Wilder and few have had such an impact on the synth scene for the past 30 years, or so. Alan Wilder´s Recoil continues this tradition into the 21st century exploring the boundaries of electronic music, and since Alan now is in full preparation of delivering probably the world´s biggest Depeche Mode memorabilia auction at the Zion Arts Centre, we simply had to pose some questions to him regarding his music creation legacy, gear and plans moving forward.

DarkWave Studio updated to v3.8.4

December 30, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · 1 Comment

DarkWave Studio is a free modular virtual studio for the synthesis of electronic music. It has a built in pattern editor and sequencer. It allows you to load various machines such as virtual instruments and effects and connect them in a modular and straightforward fashion. DarkWave can load VST instruments and effects and it can also load machines using the DarkPlug API, which was custom made for DarkWave.

DarkWave natively supports both x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit) versions of Windows with native binaries compiled for each platform. The x86 and x64 versions can each only load plugins for that platform, i.e. the x64 version only loads 64-bit VST and DarkPlug plugins.

Recent Changes
v3.8.4

  • Fixed A Crash Loading Project With Missing PlugIns.
  • Fixed Incorrect Storing Of VST PlugIn Unique ID.
  • Added A Warning When Saving A Project That Was Written In An Older File Format To The Current Version Of The Program.
