TWINS NATALIA are an Anglo-German collective of creative minds from various artistic fields “working together in order to create some beautiful, catchy yet melancholic and substantial electropop”. The brainchild of Steve Lippert, they also feature Marc Schaffer, Dave Hewson, Julie Ruler and Sharon Abbott. TWINS NATALIA’s debut album, which provisionally features songs such as ‘C’est La Weekend’, ‘Freedom’, ‘In My Arms Again’ and ‘Scary Monster’, is expected to be completed later in the year
Composed using drum machines such as the Boss Doctor Rhythm, Roland TR-606 and TR-808 alongside synths like the wonderfully ‘swimmy’ Crumar Performer, Korg MS-20, Korg Poly-61 and Roland SH-2, the metronomic structures of TWINS NATALIA’s songs are the backbone to a strangely humanic sound brimming with neu romance. Releasing their work on Marc Schaffer’s own Anna Logue Records who issued the lost POEME ELECTRONIQUE material as a collection entitled ‘The Echoes Fade’, TWINS NATALIA’s only other recording so far has been the gorgeously sequenced ‘Destiny’ on ‘The Anna Logue Years – Fifth Anniversary Compilation’ from 2010 which celebrated the label’s back catalogue and included cult acts such as CAMERA OBSCURA (the Minimal Wave duo, NOT the hipster Glaswegians!)

During the first half of 3rd year at ECAL, I made an installation project based on the visualization of sound. I am interested in how the spectator is immersed in the interactive piece in the presence of this element. I decided to continue my research on the themes of sound and atmosphere.
Sona is an experimental game on iPad inspired by the classic “Simon game.” The universe is composed of enigmatic sound paintings that the spectator must solve through simple interactions. The game is played with headphones to focus attention on the sound.
This project allowed me to study in detail the acoustic phenomena and how we store and perceive sounds. The immersion and sound have become essential elements for me in an interactive project.

Crystal has created a three minute animated sequence for the song’s promotional video to match its heart-pounding rhythms. Played in the Velodrome before every session the video shows the Velodrome as never before, literally pulsating with excitement.
“We’ve created sweeping contours and sleek surfaces as the backdrop for an intense, futuristic cycling ‘duel’ as two animated riders power round the track,” said Darren Groucutt, creative director at Crystal. “It truly brings the Velodrome to life.”

Synth artist Solvent meets the Make Noise Phonogene

Hi my name is Solvent and I make electronic music. Here is a rather indulgent video of my first experiment with the Make Noise Phonogene module. Actually, indulgent as this may be, I liked this enough to press record. I used a square wave LFO to chop the splices evenly, and the SH-101 krbrd is choosing the splices via the “Organize” Cv-in. End-of-splice (“EOS”) triggers a TipTipAudio BD808 kick drum, running through the Doepfer A-189-1 Bit Modifier. Phonogene loop is processed through a Pittsburgh Modular Filter + Midiverb reverb. The source of the sample was some lame YouTube film trailer about space.
