Satori – “Kaikou EP” performed on the Casio CZ-5000

Sound source is only CZ-5000 Casio. I’m going on a PC down and mix effects.
The CZ-5000 expands the Casio CZ series further into the professional arena. Based on the CZ-101 and CZ-1000 synths, the CZ-5000 adds many new features while retaining the same sound and programming methods as the latter. The keyboard is expanded to a full 61 note or 5-octave length and is capable of being split for bass and treble sounds. There is a built-in 8 track sequencer which is great for storing ideas or creating patterns and sequences to edit in real-time. And finally the CZ-5000 has an expanded waveform memory for even more sounds and thicker sounds. It’s like having two stacked CZ-1000 synths all at once!
Casio’s CZ series of phase-distortion digital synths make for a unique sound. After all, there are 8-stage envelopes and 2 oscillators per voice for a thicker tone. Their sound is similar to the Yamaha DX synths but is much easier to program. The CZ-5000 may be at the pinnacle of Casio’s synthesizer line, and it is still a great low-cost means of getting into vintage digital synth sounds today. The CZ-5000 is not analog and has no filters. But many still find it useful where strange synth sounds are needed such as industrial and electro types of music.

Scylla – free 32 bit Windows VST instrument
De La Mancha has released Scylla – a 32 bit Windows VST instrument – as a free download.
Scylla is capable of sample playback, combined with subtractive synthesis, to produce a wide variety of sonic possibilities, ranging from lush pads, soundscapes and effects, leads and bass.
Scylla includes three different types of oscillators that can be modified to a wide variety of styles and three built-in samplers that can accommodate .wav audio samples, which can be played back in grain table, waveform, sample or single hit format. All the audio can be modified and modulated through LFO, volume and filter envelopes, Ring-Modulation, and Unison.
Scylla has a tabbed interface with a different tab for each of the 3 layers and a Global tab for effects and LFOs. Each Layer is identical except each has a different type of oscillator, with a Cross-modulation osc, a Morphing osc and a Spectral osc

KORG DSN-12 Analog Synthesizer – exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS
Detune Ltd. and Korg Inc. have introduced the KORG DSN-12 Analog Synthesizer, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. This new, powerful software provides twelve monophonic synthesizers–each one offering three effects (choose from delay, chorus, flanger, compressor, kick, and reverb) –for a broad range of sounds not typically found in a gaming device. The KORG DSN-12 software features user-friendly operation that utilizes the Nintendo 3DS stylus pen, enabling everyone to enjoy serious sound-creation and song production with analog synthesizers.
With unlimited access to synthesizers and their corresponding sequences, players can create songs in real time while performing in a DJ-like manner, as well as exchange song and sound creations with other players.
Players can create up to 64 patterns of sequences, and then chain them together. In order to deepen interest and understanding of sound creation, Detune Ltd. also offers the world’s first 3D display oscilloscope screen for Nintendo 3DS software.

Samples were recorded through a 1073 pre, then a Fat Bustard II valve mixer and various other high end studio gear.
Lots of the sounds have multiple samples for velocity mapping. Most of the kicks and congas are tuned. Also included are a bunch of analog sourced layering tools which are incredibly useful for beefing up kicks, adding sizzle to snares or transient clicks to kicks…
