The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory is one of my all-time favorite books, published in 1999 which introduces string theory and provides a comprehensive though non-technical assessment of the theory and some of its shortcomings.

Beginning with a brief consideration of classical physics, which concentrates on the major conflicts in physics, Greene establishes a historical context for string theory as a necessary means of integrating the probabilistic world of the standard model of particle physics and the deterministic Newtonian physics of the macroscopic world. Greene discusses the essential problem facing modern physics: unification of Albert Einstein’s theory of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. Greene suggests that string theory is the solution to these two conflicting approaches. Greene frequently uses analogies and thought experiments to provide a means for the layman to come to terms with the theory which has the potential to create a unified theory of physics.
The Elegant Universe was adapted for a three hour program in three parts for television broadcast in late 2003 on the PBS series NOVA.

Sonicccouture has made their popular VA Brush Kit product available for free download. The 150mb Drum kit features mixable direct and ambient microphones, Drum roll emulation via the Roll Control KSP script, multiple velocity layers and articulations. The kit was recorded at Peter Gabriels Real World Studios in Bath, England.
Brush kit is available in Kontakt 2 + 3, Battery 2 + 3 format, and is taken from the larger VA Drums drum library.
Only wish I was more familiar with Kontakt…LOL

Kevorkian in London
After three days in London and getting back to Sweden at 1AM I am still trying to recover from a hectic time in the big city. Long days of working and joining parties paired with long nights together with the new R4 has hopefully resulted in something nice.
I have sent out my new song Kevorkian out for review and hopefully I will be able to post it here in a couple of days. As expected the RPG-8 is nice tool, however I haven´t really figured out yet how to make the most of the ReGroove-machine – not so intuitive as many of the other Reason tools, hmm will see
Btw saw that Emmon was lined up together with Thermostatic for the Xmas event, should be OK I think

Into the Darkness DVD, tempting, but I think I will skip it this time as well
Apart from the cover this could be an interesting DVD to purchase, some really good acts are presented in this fifth edition of the Into the Darkness series, to be honest I haven´t purchased any of the previous, but I did no they were available out there, LOL. This 100 minute video holds eight live clips, nine promo videos, artist greetings – and interviews with Front Line Assembly and Melotron.

Symbian – what´s the big deal
Sitting in the lounch of a chabby hotel in London trying to figure out what really is the big hype about Open OS? Yeahh, you can download stuff, but who really cares if everything is done by the book on the phone – like my kid he just want to be able to listen to music, and especially doing so on a SEMC Walkman phone, in this case he´s is willing to pay a lot, just to make sure it is a SEMC phone – he doesn´t care whether it is an open OS or not.
Well m to be honest I can see some benefits, they are good at downloading stuff and they are easy to re-program – to get what you really want, LOL, on the phone. I am not sure it is an iPhone i would like to have but it sure comes pretty close. From a music perspective, as being a person enjoying a lot of music, I would adore getting hold of a phone that really matches up to the expectations – that is, can make a fight with the MP3 players out there, so far I have seen quite few that really have the sound encoding that can come up to par with some of the best MP3 players out there.
Well I´m off top grab some Indian food now before hitting the sack

I must admit to everyone that I had never heard of this dude before (until today), when I saw that Wreathy (a new swedish elctro act) had a quote from this guy in one of their new songs. Below you find a description of him taken from myspace:
