The ADS system comprised a dual-manual splittable keyboard, a video display for envelopes, a ‘control cube’ the size of a filing cabinet for disk drives and computer hardware, and a rainbow-buttoned front panel for 64-oscillator additive synthesis and real-time sequencing that would have looked at home on the Starship Enterprise of the Star Trek of your choice. The analogy is apt, in fact – the ADS 100’s most notable public appearance was in the sound effects for Star Trek: The Motion Picture. No price was given when the ADS 100 was introduced, but it sure looked expensive.

"Glitch Bleep IDM" Reason Refill
The “Glitch Bleep IDM” Reason Refill is the first refill catering to the leftfield electronica music maker.
Highlights include:
- Over 2500 individual hits, including Kicks, snares, bleeps, buzzes, hisses, clicks, clangs and glitched out stereo effects. Each sample has been level matched for ease of use and many have been micro edited for maximum impact.

Eurovision Song Contest – Melodifestivalen
For those of you living in Sweden, you probably haven´t been able to miss the swedish nomination for the Euorpean Song Contest (the call for entries closed a couple of weeks ago). I must say that given that there are 3200 entries (some record in entries again I think) for the contest and that 32 will be selected for the finals – I can bet my hat that this long haired dude Thomas G:son will most likely score his usual with another 8 out of 32 entries (just look at last years finals) – does this mean that he is out competing the gross part of all of new talented composers in all of Sweden. Personally I think this competition sucks, if only the “elite” (wow and what an elite it is, 
) is able to enter why make it an open competition in the first place (not to forget this horrible lyrics writer “Pling” Forssman, who also seems to have struck a good deal with “Music Sweden”). Make sure to make this a true competition this year.

Glad to see that these guys hasn’t decided to do a come back tour, some old relics from the past deserves to stay as relics LOL, I believe I still have some tapes up on the attick with some of their earliest recordings – correct me if I am wrong but didn´t they also record songs where they ran the music backwards creating some fairly unique sounds – maybe that was why I thought they were entertaining

Oberheim Matrix-12
Spent an hour in one of my fav synthshops this week and played around with an old favorite of mine the Oberheim Matrix-12 – had almost forgotten how nice it sounds – can´t remember right now which group it was that was using it the most, could have been OMD but I am not sure. Below is a video clip featuring an Oberheim OBX (couldn´t find a clip of the M-12) paired with an TR 606 and an SH 101, me like

About the Matrix-12
The Matrix-12, truly one of the “Monsters” of programmable analog synthesizers. It is basically two complete Oberheim Xpanders hooked up to a velocity-sensitive (including release velocity), pressure-sensitive (there were some early Matrix-12s that did not have pressure-sensitivity), 5-octave, 61-note (C-C) keyboard. With 24 oscillators (two VCOs per voice) it can be set up as a 12-part monophonic or a 6-part polyphonic multi-timbral synth. The front panel is exactly like the Xpander, except for one button that switches between voices 1-6 and 7-12.

MODCOM : is a new project from Ronan Harris which uses analog modular synthesizers and analog sequencers for live sound generation. Sequences and sounds are patched, manipulated, effected, re-patched and mixed live. This kind of performance was common to 70’s synth pioneers who used walls of synths and cables to make sound but now its use will be for 21st century electronic beats, rhythms and soundscapes
