New interview with Martin Gore, check it out

Depeche Mode have managed to stay in a single time zone this past week, playing a sweaty, raucous two-hour show to the black swarm on the Rhine in Düsseldorf this past Wednesday, and prepping to do it all again tonight. We sat down with Martin Gore to find out about revisiting the sounds of melancholy past and how technology has changed not only Depeche Mode’s music but also their live show.

/// About the intro:

Apparently we finished another 64k…
…Except that ALL of us are extremely satisfied with it.
(Then again there’s probably always a first time.)

Hard to believe that all it took to have an intro that’s fun to make and enjoyable to watch (for us) was around +50 BPM.
Sorry for no deep emotions or touching scene poetry this time; we thought it was time to do something else.
Interestingly, losing BP06 and breaking the winning streak helped the creative process immensely – freedom is AWESOME.

We’re apparently going against (among others) Farbrausch, Fairlight, and Kewlers in the 64k compo. Hard to say what chances do we have, but one thing’s for sure: we’re really really happy with our intro already, so from this point it can only get better.

We’d like to thank everyone who supported us during our harder times, we hope a lot of you will enjoy this intro even if it’s not something you would expect from us. (Cue catchphrase here.)

Many thanks go to ryg of farbrausch for kkrunchy, and the Opera guys at Assembly’06 for lending us a computer to enter the intro. Also, greetings to everyone who didn’t fit into the intro greets.

Be sure to click “watch in HD”!

303 ENERGY – Custom built sequencer

July 5, 2013 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on 303 ENERGY – Custom built sequencer

Try out of the custom built 303 Energy which is a sequencer synthesizer based on two Doepfer A-111-5 (Dark Energy) and Acidlab Autobot. It has two theremins to control the filters.

303 ENERGY 03

On the left side of the sequencer and first synth there is a theremin controller (A-178) to control the MS-20 filter (A-106-1 extreme) and the Wasp Filter (A-124) On the right side of the sequencer and second synth voice there is also a theremin controller (A-178) to control the 303 filter (A-103) By approaching the antenna’s with your hands you can control the filters. Next to the two theremin controllers there is also an A-198 Ribbon control board to connect a ribbon controller. To invert the control signals (for instance VCA up in stead of down) there is a voltage inverter (A-175) next to the right Theremin controller. For now it gets its power through a XLR connector on the left side (+12V, GND, -12V) from a 1200mA external powersupply.
