With the release of NLogPoly Synth for Mac OSX including an Audio Unit version TempoRubato’s virtual analogue synth technology – currently known from the iPad app NLogSynth PRO – is now available across both Apple’s major platforms: Mac OSX and iOS.
Musicians, composers and producers now have a synth platform which allows them freely to move between mobile devices and their studio environment without any loss of quality. You can easily share all your patches made on iPad with NLogSynth PRO with NLogPoly Synth on Mac and vice versa.
NLogSynth has started on iOS devices recreating professional virtual analogue synthesis freshly from scratch to unveil the power of their specific hardware architecture. Based on 32 bit floating point processing NLogSynth utilizes advanced signal processing optimizations of Apple’s A4 & A5 CPUs. After successfully running this new architectural approach for two years, we are now proud to provide the same algorithms on Mac’s Intel architectures.
Thus, TempoRubato’s NLogPoly Synth is bridging the gap between mobility and the studio.
NLogPoly Synth for Mac comes in currently two parts: A standalone app and an Audio Unit plug-in both supporting 32- & 64-bit environments. Depending on market response a VST version for Mac will be added later this year.
The standalone app is a multi-timbral engine providing the power of 8 polyphonic virtual analogue synths. AMALGAM: remedy for the laptop performer blues
The problem I wished to attack, was the lack of visual communication in most of today’s electronic live acts. The artist usually stands on stage with a laptop, bobbing his head, and that’s it.
In acoustic music, even in the worst case scenario, there is at least some element of performance, since the instruments don’t play themselves. In electronic music, unfortunately they do.
So how can we bring the performance back into electronic music?
Short answer: I expanded the physical space into a virtual one, and brought back the physicality of the performance through clever (and magic) technology.

Artist Interview: Semothy Jones (Lily Allen, Professor Green)
The Propellerhead guys has released this interview with Semothy Jones. Semothy Jones was 8 years old when he heard a record that showed him the meaning of life: producing music. Admittedly unable to sing or rap, young Semothy faced a somewhat existential crisis: “I make beats, what am I?”
The answer soon revealed itself to him when his beats were sought out by UK artists like Little Boots and Professor Green. When Green and Jones decided to do a remake of the 90s hit “Dub Be Good to Me,” they had no idea that pop-royalty Lily Allen would jump on the chorus and take the album to number 2 on the charts.
Since being introduced to Reason in 2002, every Semothy Jones production starts and ends inside the Reason rack.

Josh T. Pearson brilliant adaptation of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence” and Erasure’s “A little respect”.
Josh T. Pearson is a musician from Texas. In 1996 he formed the short-lived but now critically acclaimed band Lift to Experience, who released one double album, 2001’s The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads, before splitting up soon after. Lift To Experience played live shows and became a favorite of the Denton, TX music scene. They also were played many times on the radio show The Adventure Club with Josh in Dallas on KDGE The Edge. Bella Union saw the band at South By Southwest and they were signed shortly after. Pearson is currently pursuing a solo career, which so far has consisted of a number of tours, both headlining and supporting. Pearson no longer plays any Lift to Experience songs live.
Pearson has not released an album or much else in the way of recorded material since the demise of Lift to Experience. In the meantime Pearson has been selling a variety of self-produced live recordings at recent gigs, including a bootleg album To Hull And Back and a DVD single Live In Paris. He featured on a guitar and backing vocals on two songs, “Seal Jubilee” and “Trophy” on the Bat for Lashes album Fur and Gold.
The only solo studio-recorded song to be released for almost ten years is a cover of Hank Williams’ song “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”, which was released as one half of a split 7″ single also featuring Dirty Three. Pearson has notably performed at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival several times over the last few years.
