The return of the KORG MS20 and the NAMM King Korg rumors
NAMM is soon upon us again and just as always rumors are beginning to flourish. The first comes from KORG regarding two new products from Korg, the King Korg and the MINI MS-20.
The MINI MS-20 is rumored to be a new version of their analog classic, the MS-20 in a smaller chassis and with mini keys. The picture looks at first glance like the MS-20ic controller that came with the Korg Legacy collections, but some subtle details such as screw and LED locations appear to be different. Will it be an actual analog synth, or just a repackaged, self-contained version of the Korg Legacy version? The other rumor is about the King Korg, which some believe to be a 3-oscillator analog synth. But is it real analog or just another virtual analog?
Soon we will know, but it seems that after the success of the Monotron series, this could be a logical direction Korg might take. On the other hand, a higher price point would likely make these more niche products that would do smaller numbers than a company the size of Korg might bother with.

KORG M01: ‘Naked Glow’ From Ridge Racer Type 4
Here’s Anthony Seeha’s recreation of NAKED GLOW by Kouta Takahashi.
It’s not completely accurate, but it’s pretty close. I actually started this song last summer. I never got around to finishing it (which is why it fades out in the end). The drum rhythms for this song were pretty difficult to recreate! Please enjoy! 😀

S.O.O.G. – Sub Octave Oscillator Generator for Reaktor
Icebreaker Audio has announced the release of S.O.O.G. (Sub Octave Oscillator Generator), a free analogue style octaver effect for Native Instruments Reaktor 5.8.
The effect produces a fuzzy version of the input signal, by generating a modulated square wave one octave below the tracked pitch. This fuzzy octave can then be filtered to smooth out the tone, or to create synth style sounds.
The effect works best on monophonic instruments with strong fundamental frequencies like bass guitars or clear vocals.
The ensemble is a free download from Icebreaker Audio.
Electronic music news from Jode, IAMX and Covenant
Swedish electro pop duo Jode are in the production process with Christoffer Berg (Depeche Mode, The Knife, Moby etc) finishing their debut single “Untold”. Berg will be mixing and producing. Christoffer Berg just came home from New York and Santa Barbara after spending 6 months with Depeche producing their forthcoming album.

In a FB post Covenant have announced that Daniel Myer has left the band, which was also confirmed directly to Steelberry Clones when we met up with Eskil Simonsson back stage at ElectriXmas
Says Covenant: “On the other end of things Daniel Myer has announced that he’s leaving the Covenant setup to focus on his own projects. He will be sorely missed but we wish him the best and we hope he’ll achieve every ambitious goal he aims for. His last performance with Covenant will take place on Christmas Day (Dec 25) next week at the Dark Storm Festival in Chemnitz. We hope you’ll show up and join us as we show him all our love.”
Visitors of Covenant’s 2007 tour saw Myer first at work when he was replacing Clas Nachmanson who had decided to focus on other things than Covenant for a while.

Roland CR 68 drum machine played both live into tascam dp-01fx/cd 2 tracked.
The Polymoog is a preset-based and fully polyphonic synthesizer released in 1975. The eight preset sounds consist of strings, piano, organ, harpsichord, funk, clavi, vibes, and brass. Though it may not sound as good as other analog poly-synths of the time (from ARP and Siel) the Polymoog was still a popular instrument because of a great new keyboard and the ability to edit the presets into unique and wild analog sounds. There’s a genuine Moog filter in there with modulation, keyboard tracking and lots of LFO modulation sources. The full sized 71-note touch-sensitive keyboard can be split into three sections, each with independent volume sliders. There is a 3-band EQ, sample-and-hold, and a full set of envelope controls. What you won’t find, however, is patch memory–well, there’s one programmable preset, but there’s certainly no MIDI control!
