Sknote has released the HandSynth synthesizer for iPod/iPhone/iPad, described as a performance synthesizer with a simple interface and several complex oscillators and filters.
The developers tell us that a multitouch keyboard gives great control on the sound, not achievable with classic synths, while a “Theremin” mode adds realtime modulation possibilities.

Gorillaz new album entirely made via an iPad
The Gorillaz have announced that their new album, recorded on an iPad, will be released as a free gift to fans on Christmas day.
“At the moment we’ve got an advent calendar on our website and there is a daily door that opens to reveal a gift,” says Gorillaz’ Jamie Hewlet.
“On Christmas Eve, a video for one of the new songs from the iPad album will be released,” he adds. “On Christmas Day, fans get the whole album downloaded to their computer for free as a gift.”
Gorillaz’ Damon Albarn wanted to create the world’s first iPad album.
“I literally made it on the road in America over a month,” explains Albarn. “I didn’t write it before, I didn’t prepare it. I just did it day by day as a kind of diary of my experience in America.”
eyoControl – MIDI controllers for the iPad
eyoControl is a set of MIDI controllers for the iPad, including a control surface. It connects to your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) through eyoControl Server (free download at http://eyosido.com, MacOS only) allocating a virtual MIDI port per controller. iPad instruments – what it takes to get up to par
Developer Rob Fielding (Mugician) offers his thoughts on what it takes for an iPad app to become an instrument on a par with traditional ones
This is my take on what iPad instruments need to do to be playable. If you see some of my users doing non-constructive criticisms of other instruments (specifically yours! 
), please don’t take it too seriously. I don’t do that myself, and it bothers me. Some of Mugician’s evolution was guided by Jordan Rudess’ Morphwiz, Roger Linn’s Linnstrument, and the many things I learned working with Leon Gruenbaum’s Samchillian (my Xstrument instrument is a derivative of it)
