Curve 2 virtual synth is out in new edition
Cableguys has announced Curve 2, a new version of the virtual synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac.
Curve introduced unique waveform editing and preset sharing to the world of synthesizers. Version 2 is in the making, taking its preset sharing steps further and adding more creative sound features. All this while keeping its ease of use, at an excellent sound quality.
Changes in Curve 2
- Enhanced Audio – Curve’s unparalleled flexibility of drawing waveforms for its aliasing-free OSCs and LFOs brought inspiring, unique sounds. Version 2 adds drawable envelopes, allows for two waveforms per OSC and adds a comprehensive unisono mode.
- Expanded Preset Library – Curve’s preset library is a shared online database. Version 2 makes sharing sounds even more exciting by adding a version history, author and preset descriptions and providing a consistent library.
- Improved Usability – Curve got praises for its great usability and slick interface. On request from our users, we’ve improved the color scheme. Version 2 brings a new layout, and adds MIDI assignment.
- The Curve Community – Since the first beta of Curve 1.0, the Curve community steers the synthesizer’s future by submitting bug reports and feature requests, and by sharing presets.
The public beta for Curve 2 will start in Q1/2012, while more features will be added on the way. Those who purchase Curve 1 or the Cableguys Bundle now will get get the upgrade to Curve 2 for free.

Free universal analogue mono synth for iOS
Anaphobia Mini (short: AnaMini) is a monophonic virtual analog synthesizer for iOS 5.0. It features a classical analog synthesizer setup using a VCO, LFO, VCA and VCF. Of course, none of it is really controlled by voltage, but rather by a 32-bit digital synthesis engine.

From traditional marching brass to full-blown cinematic soundscapes, Fanfare delivers a marching brass library for educators and arrangers, and a versatile construction toolkit for film, TV, game composers, producers, and electronic musicians. Tapping into the mind of premier wind and brass arranger John Meehan, Fanfare features a broad array of samples recorded by Leslie Ann Jones on The Scoring Stage at Skywalker Sound (Lucasfilm Ltd Company) and on the field at Ralph Wilson Stadium (home of the Buffalo Bills) by Grammy Award winner Frank Dorritie. SSSSYNTH is Monophonic Virtual Analog Synthesizer. This is a basic monophonic synth app and it’s free. Version 1.0 does not support CoreMidi. You also can not store any of your settings or patches. Filter section is not smooth. You can hear stepping. Weird white keys, not typical length. Nice delay with filter effect. Oh yeah it’s free!

New virtual A 303 Clone for Ableton
analogfactory says that ‘Black, fast and toxic’ is the best description for the rackmounted monophonic true analog MAM MB33 synthesizer which was released in the 1990’s. Black Mamba is a replica of this little synth combined with the powerful Instrument Racks of Ableton Live.
Originally released as a TB303 clone by German company MAM (Music and More), the MB33 had a true analogue single VCO with two basic waveforms – square and saw. analogfactory say that, as the MB33 had the possibility of morphing those waveforms, it was able to create more tones than the TB303.
Black Mamba has been chromatically sampled in 24bit/96khz with high-end Apogee A/D converters and, besides the two basic waveforms, analogfactory has sampled 9 further waveforms using the morph possibilities of the VCO.

Arctic Keys has several outstanding features. The first is alias free oscillators with the analog modelling DSP, so no samples are used and no digital artefacts are present. This works great on say a flute patch which can be played at very low key registers all the way to the top of the keyboard without breaking up with that digital whistle you sometimes here in other synths. So this gives a great quality to the audio synthesis, like e.g a Nord Lead.
Secondly we have a step sequencer that can modulate many parameters on the synth. It’s more like a Tetra than a typical dual-oscillator subtractive synth. Plus classic arpeggiator and master effects.
Thirdly we have full CoreMIDI support, MIDI Learn, phrase recording with Sonoma AudioCopy export, wav export, MIDI file export, sharing via e-mail and wi-fi as well as iTunes. All with an attractive easy to use user interface. I’m really excited by it and I hope you will be too!
New free KORG minitron emulation for Windows
Almost start to wish I had a PC as well back home, although it would not be a massive investment to get the real one.
easytoolz has released minitron, a freeware virtual analog synthesizer instrument for Windows. A new toy for the masses, a “Emu” of the Korg Monotron, it is not a real Emulation, more a Adaption of the simple but effective.
