CIRCUIT BENT Star Wars Darth Vader Voice Changer & Casio SK-1
Continuing the space theme from previous post
The Vader voice changer was something that I’d started years ago but due to my inexperience, I ballsed it up. Now it’s all freshly spanked and fully awesome.
The unit contains 3 Vader samples:
‘What is your bidding, my master?’
‘Impressive’
and his asthmatic wheeze.
Also there’s the voice changing aspect.
It’s a bit weird, it does a pitch shift down, but not a full octave, with some slight modulation. It’s gritty and dirty and guaranteed to lead you down the path to the Darkside.
The mods are a bit limited. I’ve added a pitch dial for the samples, which when cranked high will result in a some glitching (although it wouldn’t do it for me when I shot the video) and an overdrive dial that affects both the sample and voice effects. There’s also a line in for the changer and a line-out for amplification, the speaker is still intact for on the fly sonic Sith noise terrorism and there’s 3 LEDs for added ambience.
Daft Punk Tron End Titles Synth Cover with Alesis Ion & Micron
Synths changed once again, I re-acquired a Micron along with the Ion. Both have obviously the same type of sound (using the same engine), but the Micron has drums, which is very useful. All the sounds come fom the synths: pad and beat from Micron, lead and sequence from the Ion. The sequence and the pads are sequenced externally. Enjoy.
Molten Drum Machine for iPad triggering Roland TR-707
the amazing Molten drum machine controlling the TR-707. iPad connected to ableton via wifi. Ableton connecting to 707 with a DIGI002. Timing seems to be good, but it is dropping a lot of notes.

Easter video: Human League – circus of death
Human League 1978, very much of a Kraftwerk influence going on. Just a little darker.
New James Bond synth from Waldorf
Waldorf Music continues their James Bond naming theme with the announcement of their new software vocoder Lector.
They describe Lector as follows:
“Robot voices, whispering strings, talking drum loops, rhythmic pads, the resonant ringing of bells, dripping water – the possibilities are all but infinite. With a quick tweak here and there, the Lector turns any incoming signal into novel sounds and effects. Tremendously versatile, the Lector puts in your hands a sonic toolset for a wide range of diverse applications. Just about anything goes, from distorting the human voice to adding subtle harmonies to lead vocals and getting creative with movie soundtracks.
The analysis filter bank splits the incoming audio signal into as many as 100 frequency bands, the intensity of which modulates the volume levels of an equal number of band-pass filters in the synthesis filter bank. The integrated 16-voice synthesizer or an external source provides the input signal for the synthesis filter bank. This lets you do fun things like apply a melody line or chord sequence to articulate vocals or speech.”
Lector Features:
- 3 to 100 band Vocoder
- Adjustable range of Analysis Filter Bank
- Adjustable offsets and LFO modulation of Synthesis Filter Bank
- 3-band Equalizer with variable mid band
- Individual Compressors for Speech and Carrier signal
- Voiced / Unvoiced Detector
- Overdrive (types Tube, Diode, Clip)
- Stereo Chorus / Flanger, 2 to 6 stages
- Stereo Delay, syncronizable
- Reverb
- Sidechain input (VST 3 and Audio Unit)
- Carrier plug-in (VST 2)
16-voice Synthesizer (per voice):
- Polyphonic, Monophonic or Free-Running
- 2 Oscillators, waveforms sine, triangle, sawtooth, pulse with pulse width modulation, sample&hold, noise, single and multi sample playback
- FM
- Ring Modulation
- Portamento / Glissando
- 1 Filter, types Lowpass, Bandpass, Highpass, Notch (12dB and 24dB), Whitening
- 1 LFO, synchronizable, waveforms sine, triangle, sawtooth, square, sample&hold, noise
- 2 AR envelopes
Lector will run on Windows or Mac. There is no buy button or pricing yet, but you can read more details here http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/lector-overview.html.
Voice of Saturn Synth II Prototype
I’ve implemented 3 of the possible 6 oscillators on this one (though the old sequencer case I used will hold 5). The circuit is based around a schmitt trigger oscillator. Super simple, and easy to make a lot of them. Sorry for the horrible video quality. Just finished it and wanted to get a quick demo done. Hopefully circuitboards will be tested and available sometime this summer. I will likely do a Kickstarter campaign to fund the first run. Keep an eye out!

Kinect Reaktor Ensemble
A Reaktor Ensemble for visualizing Kinect skeletal data available at geometricmusic.co.uk. OSCKinnection feeds the skeletal data into Reaktor using OSC. The yellow orb is controlled by the two hands and the orb position controls a synthesizer. All joint positions can be used as synth inputs.

The Mush Orchestra – Live Improvisation
A live improvisation jam by The Mush Orchestra. Recorded at Copenhagen Noise Lab on the 13th of April 2011. No processing, just straight out of the mixer.
Equipment used:
Nord Modular G2, DIY midi-controller, Elektron Machinedrum UW, Korg Kaoss Pad 3 and a Mackie 1202 vlz3 mixer.
Every sound is made with the Nord Modular G2, the Machinedrum UW is only playing samples from it.
The Mush Orchestra is a project by Rasmus Nyåker who is also oone half of the ambient duo FEJLD. Their album is availible as a free download – more info at:
