MacBeth – micromac introduction
Here is a video tour of the up and coming MacBeth micromac! We get to see the front panel explained and also get to hear the sounds. NOTE this vid is just over a half hour in time- and sadly the software that I used to compress the file for upload contains one or to artifacts or ‘aliases’ It may come up as unwanted noise during the oscillator demo.

The Fundamentals of Synthesizer Programming Pt. 5
Moog Music Inc. is proud to present Dr. Joseph Akins’ five part series on the fundamentals of synthesizer programming. Dr. Akins is an associate professor at Middle Tennessee State University and strives to teach his students a complete understanding of synthesizers and computers as tools for modern music production. In this five part series Dr. Akins uses a Voyager to teach the process through which a synthesizer’s sound is generated and the techniques needed to program your own sounds and sonic experiments. In part four of this five part series Dr. Akins gives an in depth lesson on the low frequency oscillator or LFO.

MOOG SOUND LAB Season 2: Little Dragon – Little Man
Little Dragon came by the Moog Factory in Asheville, NC to reinvent their song Little Man from their latest album Ritual Union.
Little Dragon came in for a session during Moogfest 2011. Sadly, their bass player fell ill during the festival and they were unable to perform their full set that evening. Luckily, their soundman filled in on bass parts with the Little Phatty for the Moog Sound Lab session and we got a gem of a performance.
Little Dragon front-woman Yukimi Nagano sings through an Analog Delay Moogerfooger, adding warmth and a low-fi slap-back to her sultry voice.
Keyboardist Hakan Wirenstrand masterfully plays the Minimoog Voyager XL. Using an Analog Delay Moogerfooger, he doubles the sound of the XL to make a rhythmic doubling effect, as he opens and closes the 2 Moog Ladder filters with the cutoff knob.
Little Dragon’s sound man, Crispin Anderson sat in for bassist Fredrick Kallgren for this session. He holds down the song with thick bass lines on the Little Phatty
Drummer Eric Bodin plays a driving beat with 3 Minimoog Voyager Rack Mounts using Trap-Kat drum pads to control each Voyager separately

Stereoklang TV: Reactable DJ software – live performance in Barcelona 2012
Here’s a nice live performance of Reactable at this year’s MWC in Barcelona Spain, done by Reactable’s own music maestro in the Intel booth.

About Reactable:
The revolutionary Reactable instrument hits the stage with its new incarnation: The Reactable Live! It brings all the possibilities of the original Reactable and makes it portable and easy to setup. The Live! version of the instrument allows you to touch and see the music while performing. The different sound generation and manipulation modules, which are real physical objects, permit infinite flexibility and control in musical expression. Exploring and using modern techniques of music production has never been easier or more exciting.
The Reactable was conceived as an instrument to bring back the expressive possibilities of traditional instruments to musicians who are working with new technologies. It uses concepts of modular synthesis, sampling, advanced digital effects processing, and DJing and combines them with modern human computer interaction, multitouch technology and a tangible interface.
STN L.E.W.D – Low End Warp Device Demo
“Following on from the STN layering concept I bring thee L.E.W.D.”
A 4 oscillator (layer) Drum and Bass module dedicated to creating the lowest of low basses and the biggest of all 808 thumping kicks. BUT, it is a lot more than that and the only way to show you is for you to check the demo….Featuring WOBBLE and WAVER effects, 3 levels of SATURATION, LOW END DRIVING, WIDENING and BOUNCE….
The idea behind L.E.W.D was to create an aesthetically and fully functional low end bass and kick module that would have the type of controls that I selfishly wanted. Ease of use and ‘fun’ were the main criteria for developing this product.
To be able to dynamically affect every layer on the fly appealed to me greatly.
Chaining specific effects and dynamics into single function knobs and dials not only makes it easy to run deep edits on the go but it makes for a much more pleasing approach to sound design. Additionally, the whole concept of making everything simple and beautiful gave me an insight into how to design a functioning GUI whilst maintaining control. The decision to chain and condense effects and dynamics into single functions was made to help beginners and intermediates understand and utilize commonly desired processes.
The real power of L.E.W.D lies in the layering process. Each kick and sine layer has been meticulously processed to layer both in tune and harmonically with each other. Using phase cancellation, polarity inversion and M/S, specific frequencies have been dug out and others enriched so that when applying heavy overdriving and saturation effects the results are both genuine unique.
Little Phatty + Ableton Corpus = Pseudo-Talking Bass
Little Phatty running through Corpus effect:
“I randomly play around with Corpus settings. The Little Phatty “patch” is unchanged throughout. It’s simple on “Calibration” with the filter wide open and just a single saw oscillator enabled. Towards the end of the video I get close to a “talking bass” kind of patch (hence the “pseudo”.”

ZX81 computer with AY-interface & ZXpand Module
And here’s the background info:
Sorry for too long preface/introduction 😉 but it was my very _first_ contact with ZXpand module for ZX81 computer (32Kb or RAM, SD-card instant loading plus additional AY-interface in standard of classic ZX81’s ZonX AY-interface from 80s).
It is really ZX81 playing music via AY chip (well, actually its Japanese version: YM). You can get both modules from RWAP Software: http://www.rwapsoftware.co.uk/zx812.html
