Close encounter with the Elektron Analog Four
We’ve been hearing a lot about Elektron’s new analog four voice. From the stylish but somewhat obscure introduction movie which piqued our interest, to the sound audition pieces coming online as people get hold of their very own units.
The Analog Four is a new type of instrument from Elektron as it has 100% analog VCOs and Filters which are digitally controlled. Their Machine Drum and MonoMachine have been Virtual Analog and sample based.
Elektron came over from their Gothenburg HQ to give us a closeup look at the Analog Four.
Jon is the product manager and is doing the talking, Jenk the guy making all the sounds.
No apologies for the length of the video, its just that there seemed to be so many things to talk about. Also this is intended to be a discussion about the features of the instrument, there are many other videos available that are just audio demos – check them out.

In Johns Words “Today I’m talking to Gary Numan, who became an overnight sensation in 1979 when his post punk group Tubeway Army released the single “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” and then achieved worldwide success later the same year with the release of his first solo album, and one of the cornerstones of synth pop, ‘The Pleasure Principle.’ Following some very lean years in the wilderness, Gary started the long and arduous task of rebuilding his career in the mid-90s, becoming a peer of many industrial and techno artists he had originally been an influence on. We catch him on tour in the UK as he gears up for the release of his 18th solo album, the much anticipated “Splinter.”

A simple, proof-of-concept sequencer that can be applied to a range of drum pad controller models.
8 pads are used for sequencing.
4 pads are used for selecting between four different sequences, running simultaneously at different related tempo subdivisions.
The XY pad is used to store MIDI CC data for each step for each sequence, and as thus can be used to automate a range of parameters, increasing the available expression for such a setup.

NAMM 2013: The new Moog Sub Phatty Synthesizer – new image revealed
Moog Music shared a few teaser images today of their new synthesizer, to be released at the 2013 NAMM Show, that just might be called the Sub Phatty.
Features of the Sub Phatty are expected to include:
