Live Jam with Waldorf Rocket, lots of gear and a vocoder

August 21, 2013 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Live Jam with Waldorf Rocket, lots of gear and a vocoder

Background video info below:

I got a brand new Rocket today, so… here goes!

Bass: Waldorf Rocket
Drums: Vermona DRM1, Acidlab Miami, MPC
Strings: Korg Wavestation SR
Pluck: Casio CZ3000
FX: Roland Alpha Juno 2
Vocoder: MAM VF-11
Vocoder Synth: DSI Tetra
Sequencer: Cirklon

I’m switching the Rocket between chord and mono modes over MIDI. To play chords, set the oscillator wave to sawtooth (CC #31 = 0), and the osc tune&shape knobs to max (CC #70 & #79 = 127). I’m also setting the mod wheel for some chord vibrato.

Charlie Slick explores the Sagittronics, details below:

this is a little fun demo of a portamento module I’ve been working on. It’ has separate controls for attack/decay (rise/fall) as well as a slope adjust between Linear and exponential portamento. it’s a modification of a Harry bissell design. I added a gate controlled switch for engaging the portamento.

Case Study # 1 Aphex Twin – Heliosphan

August 21, 2013 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Case Study # 1 Aphex Twin – Heliosphan

Here is an attempt to recreate Heliosphan by Aphex Twin.

All of the sequencing was done one the Yamaha RS-7000 and all sounds came from the Waldorf Micro Q Keyboard in multimode. The purpose of this recreation was to better understand complete compositions, mixing, and layering synthesizer sounds. It was also done for the sake of pushing programming skills and pushing the limits of the Micro Q.
Most often synthesizers are used to about 10 percent of their potential because they are not programmed correctly or used multitibrally.

Voyager RME +TR 606+MF 101+VX 351+VX 352 Weird Sequence

August 20, 2013 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Voyager RME +TR 606+MF 101+VX 351+VX 352 Weird Sequence

Weird random sequence generated by a Minimoog Voyager RME driven by a Roland TR606 via Moogerfooger MF101 envelope follower CV out to VX 352 CV expander.
Since there is almost no video in youtube that shows the practical uses of the Moog CV expanders ( VX 352 & VX 351) I decided to put online this lo quality video just to show a (funny) experiment on the day one I connected these machines…sorry for the poor audio quality, recorded from my iphone mic, but this clip was intended only for documentation purposes…enjoy!

FireBird 2 – the software synthesizer for Windows is now free

Tone2 Audiosoftware has released its FireBird 2 software synthesizer instrument for Windows as a free download.

Here’s what they have to say about the free soft synth:

After seven years of faithful service, the time has come to set the bird free. Firebird itself has become vintage and even though it’s no longer profitable to remain a commercial product, we feel that more people should deserve an opportunity to enjoy this sometimes heavily underestimated synthesizer.

Which is why we decided to release one last update and turn the product into freeware (previously $79). We want to say a big THANK YOU to all customers who supported the development of Firebird and other Tone2 products, by purchasing our software.
