Granular synthesizer for iOS
Curtis Heavy, first Granular Synthesizer for iPhone, from app maker The Strange Agency LLC. Now there is Curtis for iPad version 2.0. The first granular synthesizer for the iPhone comes to the iPad.
Granular synthesis works by combining many tiny grains of sound from an existing recording, creating new sounds with the texture of the original, now with endless temporal possibilities. Play the sound forward, backward, or even a single point. Unlike scratching a record, pitch doesn’t depend on how quickly you move through the recording. Try with spoken word, singing, synths. Mangle your recordings or create soft, gentle textures!
This release allows you to record audio with your iPad or add your own WAV files via iTunes. No more in-app server setup; just drag-and-drop! Available at the app store at http://itunes.apple.com/us/a…
Looper for iOS – the newly released VoiceJam
What if you could create something musically amazing with just your voice? What if you didn’t need musical instruments, sheet music, or complicated recording software? What if you could create an entire song with your voice, simulating bass lines, melodies, rhythms and sound effects, all in one pass, without ever stopping to think about it?
If you answered “that would be freaking amazing”, then you need to download VoiceJam. VoiceJam is your access to performing, creating, and sharing amazing musical compositions.

Online Jam session has begun
Message from timexile
Tim Exile, laptop virtuoso, vocalist, and Reaktor software creator, has apparently taken a liking to the recording features SoundCloud is touting. He’s got a novel idea: you record samples into SoundCloud, he takes your samples and incorporates them into his set.
Since Soundcloud launched their awesome recording iPhone app last week it’s now really easy for you to record and upload sounds wherever you are. To mark this fine achievement in modern sociauditory engineering I’ve elected to have an online jam. Please join me at www.timexile.com/interactive and feed me sounds to jam with by recording something using the free Soundcloud app on your iPhone on the night and sending it to exile@timexile.com.
If you don’t have an iPhone you can use the browser version to send sounds. www.soundcloud.com

New sampling toy keyboards of the 80’s like the ones produced by Casio and Yamaha
Sir Sampleton is a sampling keyboard, which means it can record sounds through the microphone that you can then play on a keyboard. If you want the sound of bagpipes or bells, then just use Sampleton to sample some bagpipes or bells. Or if you want more unique sounds, you can make samples with your own voice or noisy objects you find around the house.
Sir Sampleton is inspired by sampling toy keyboards of the 80’s like the ones produced by Casio and Yamaha. These classic keyboards were great toys, but are now expensive because they are sought after by professional musicians for their warm, low-fi sound and simple operation. Now, it’s possible to have similar sound and functionality in an app, plus the features that you wish the old keyboards had, like the ability to save samples.
FEATURES:
◊ Sample through the microphone and then play your samples on the dual keyboards
◊ Save and recall your samples
◊ Add rhythm with the built-in beats and random beat generator
◊ Tweak advanced sound settings such as vibrato, note trail length, and sample time
◊ Put one sample on each keyboard in dual-sample mode”
