AudioSpillage announces Elecktroid drum machine plugin
AudioSpillage has announced Elecktroid, a drum machine instrument plug-in for Mac OS X. A fusion of drum synth and and drum sampler with a custom designed rhythm sequencer.
Elecktroid combines drum synthesis, sample playback and step sequencer functionality in a single integrated package.
Elecktroid is a direct replacement for the MiniSpillage2 plugin which has now been discontinued. Customers who have already ordered MiniSpillage2 will automatically receive a full license for Elecktroid when released.
Elecktroid features
- 8 drum pads.
- 8 sequencer tracks.
- 24 MIDI playable patterns.
- Full velocity and parameter control graph editing.
- Assign trigger-probability value to any sequencer step.
- Humanize and groove quantize control.
- 4 drum synthesis models (BassDrum, SnareDrum, WoodDrum and Hi-Hat).
- 1 sample and 1 drum synth per pad.
- Or 2 samples per pad (without the synth).
- Velocity cross-fade between sample and synth (or between 2 samples).
- 8 sound outputs.
- Distortion, filter and lo-fi FX on each pad.
- 2 LFOS (6 waveforms) per pad.
- 3 ADSR envelopes per pad.
- 64-bit DSP processing.
Elecktroid for Mac (AU) is available to pre-order now at 20% off, priced £35 GBP / €45 EUR / $55 USD (regular £45 GBP / €56 EUR / $69 USD). Expected release date is August 8th, 2012.
Dazibao : the Arpeggio Sequencer
Create your sounds with colors
Dazibao is a powerful music synthesizer, able to create the most complex tone evolutions but with a fast and easy to use new kind of users interface. This tutorial explains how to use the Arpeggio Sequencer.
Dazibao is sold on the website of Herve Noury for a very friendly price :

HelloTheremin + Changeling

Oh!
Control is difficult before a performance!
Hello theremin can be found here >>
Changeling is the super easy, flexible, diatonic chord sequencer.
It’s purpose is to help people enjoy composing music by providing the basic tools to improvise!
Improvisation is a skill that can normally only be obtained by investing a lot of discipline and time in to studying music theory and practice.
Changeling does not generate compositions for you, you remain in full creative control over your music.
All recorded musical notes remain relative, and can be changed in various ways during playback.
TC-11 – tutorial on sequencer notes and scales
This tutorial looks at the basics of sequencer programming in TC-11. Starting with a non-pitched patch, we insert a sequencer to quantize the frequency to note values. Two approaches are taken: building a specific scale, and using the Add parameter to quickly fly through a note scale.
TC-11 is a programmable modular synthesizer on the iPad, controlled by multi-touch and device motion controllers. All synthesis parameters can be controlled by these two sources, which allows the user to create countless unique patch configurations.
TC-11 does not use on-screen objects like knobs or buttons for synthesis control. Instead, your touches are the controllers. Distances, angles, rotation, speeds, and timings created by the touches are used to push synthesis parameters in real-time. TC-11 opens up every inch of the screen for performance. Plus, the iPad’s device motion capabilities can be used as controllers. The accelerometer, gyroscope and compass can be assigned to synthesis parameters to turn your iPad into a expressive motion-controlled synth.

IanniX – graphical open-source sequencer
From UPIC to IanniX
IanniX is a graphical open-source sequencer, based on Iannis Xenakis works, for digital art. IanniX syncs via Open Sound Control (OSC) events and curves to your real-time environment. This video explains how UPIC has inspired IanniX and what kind of new writings are now possible.
IanniX Features:
- Sequencer – IanniX can be used with a diversity of software and hardware tools.
- Real-time – IanniX can be modified and operated in real-time.
- Space & Time – IanniX’s graphical space spans several dimensions and time scales.
- Open Sound Control – The OSC protocol allows fast network communication.
- Open-source – IanniX is licensed under GPL 3, free and cross-platform.
- Programmable – Scripts for IanniX can be written using JavaScript to create complex and generative scores.
IanniX is available as a free download for Linux, Mac & Windows.
Demo of the Akai MPC-60, MFB Synth II, and EMW WCS-1
Background information:
Here is a demo of the Akai MPC-60 Sampler/Sequencer, MFB Synth II Analog Synth, and EMW WCS-1 Analog Synth. The drums/sequencing were done by my MPC-60; the drums were sampled on the MPC using my Roland TR-808 as a sound source. The bassline is the EMW WCS-1 and the MFB Synth II is the sequenced melody. Both are sequenced by the MPC-60. The delay/echo effect is a really old Washburn analog delay. The mixer is an Alto AMX-220.
There is lots of cross-talk/hiss/noise in this recording. I personally like this, and I fully understand how I would go about eliminating this. But I would never want to.
Rebel Technologies – Stoicheia
Rebel Technology, a new Eurorack module manufacturer, has introduced Stoicheia – a Eurorack format Euclidean trigger sequencer. Stoicheia algorithmically generates rhythmic sequences from an input trigger signal. The name comes from the title of Euclid’s book Elements, in which the algorithm was first described.
“Martin’s prototype euclidean sequencer, it’s excellent fun. It has two channels which send triggers to whatever you like. Each channel has the same three knobs and a switch. Importantly for me it makes rhythms that are really useful in a dance floor kind of way. Useful patches are often hard to come by on modulars
And you can hear the same sort of patch, over a beat from the computer, on sound cloud here:
http://soundcloud.com/voodooinsomnia/stoicheia-test
Eventually I’ll finish my drum modules so the beats can come straight out of the modular. “

Spooky Sequencer
Background information:
I’m experimenting with different sequencer approaches on the Launchpad. The code is running on a DIY microcontroller board, turning the Launchpad into a standalone MIDI hardware sequencer.
In this clip the top 6 rows of the Launchpad grid are mapped to MIDI notes (counting along and upwards from note C3). When the step counter in the lower 2 rows hits a green square it plays the next green note selected in the grid, same goes for red notes.
A yellow square in the step counter plays next red and green notes together. A yellow note in the grid behaves like both a red and green. The result is two cycling note lines that fall in and out of synch with each other depending on how many notes are selected of each colour. It comes out kind of hypnotic and spooky – not really what I was originally going for, but I ran with it anyway.
The hardware is an FTDI VNC2 chip on a DIY board. I am fighting with the buggy IDE and compiler to try to get a useful standalone hard sequencer/control surface from the Launchpad.
