iPad, as a music prod tool, up for serious competition from Google
Today’s big rumor, coming from an un-named single source by way of the Download Squad blog, is that a Google tablet, made by HTC, running Google’s Chrome OS, and available on the Verizon network, will go on sale on November 26th this year. That’s Black Friday.
Or, maybe not: Citing similarly un-named sources among “upstream component makers,” Digitimes asserts that it’s Motorola, not HTC, that is Google’s first choice for a tablet, which Digitimes says will be based on Android.
The Motorola-made Google tablet will utilize Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor platform, and will have a 10.1-inch Sharp-manufactured LCD that’s not as bright as the iPad, but is thinner, says Digitimes. It will be in production by the end of 2010, the paper added.
Judging from the number of micro synths and drum machines that has popped up for Android, I guess it is just a matter of time before we see a similar development on the tablet side
Use Nintendo to create and perform live music in-front of an audience
Rhythm Core Alpha is a music creation system designed for creating and performing live music in-front of an audience. It contains DRUM GRID for creating drum parts, a NOTE GRID for creating instrument parts, a unique 2D SOLO MODE where the user can play music live with the stylus, and a PATTERN SCREEN for arranging pattern and key/scale changes.
“The great thing about Rhythm Core Alpha is that the music never has to stop. You can be editing one block, while playing another.” says program creator T. B. Trzepacz. “Rhythm Core Alpha detects the key of the music automatically, so you can change the key of the music you sequenced with the +Control Pad or face buttons, like fingering a guitar, while soloing with the stylus using your other hand. Or you can sequence all of the chord changes in the pattern mode and concentrate more on your playing.”
Features:
Drum Grid
• 12 tracks
• 64 beats per track
• 122 sounds
• 7 velocity levels
• Track mute and solo modes.
• 7 powerful editing options: copy, shift, set, clear, random, echo, and velocity.
• Up to 100 drum / note blocks (loops) can be stored.
Note Grid:
• 8 tracks
• 64 beats per track
• 166 sounds
• 7 velocity levels
• Track mute and solo modes.
• 8 powerful editing commands: copy, shift, set, clear, random, echo, velocity, and transpose.
• Automatically detects key and scale, allows remapping using +Control Pad or buttons.
• 24 key/scale (chord) change options using buttons, from 120 possible key/scale combinations.
• Up to 100 drum / note blocks (loops) can be stored.
Solo Mode:
• 2D solo grid gives over 6 octaves of notes on screen.
• Each note can reach 6 other notes without lifting the stylus for more fluid play.
• Notes in grid remap to current scale… no wrong notes can be hit!
• User can override scale selection.
• Drums can also be played from the solo screen!
Pattern Screen:
• Up to 1000 steps can be set.
• Sequences key/scale (chord) and block (drum and note loop) changes.
• Powerful loop-back feature allows looping chord progressions.
• +Control Pad and face buttons can be used to jump to steps in the pattern for flexibility.

Are you into odd sounds and instruments?
If yes this one’s definitely for you….
Soniccouture have announce their latest product : Tingklik. Here’s what they have to say about it…
A Tingklik is a bamboo percussion instrument from Bali. A Tingklik typically has 11 bamboo tubes, although the instrument we sampled has 12. The longest bamboo is about a metre long for the lowest pitch. With five notes per octave, the range is just over 2 octaves. The tubes are suspended using string over a brightly coloured wooden frame. The player sits on the ground and strikes the bamboo tubes with rubber-tipped mallets.
Because the Tingklik only has 12 notes, it is possible to sample it in great detail without it becoming too large in terms of sampler memory. Each note was sampled at 12 different velocity levels, with 6 alternate samples for each level, ensuring a very natural, living sound. The Kontakt and Ableton Live versions include tools for doubling the Tingklik to simulate the authentic paired playing found in Bali. Both the original tuning and a full chromatic western tuning are included in all formats.
Pricing and Availability:
Tingklik is available now as a Download, priced EUR 29 / USD 39

Forever young? Grow up…
After the “Forever Young” tour in Sweden featuring everything from Alpha Ville to Ultravox I am not sure we really need a new album from these guys
The radio in Germany has started airing the newest Alphaville single “I’ll die for you today”. The single, produced by Sebastian Komor (Komor Kommando, Zombiegirl, Icon Of Coil, …) during a 3 months stay in Berlin, was already played live back in 2004 under the name “The outsider”.
The actual single and new album releases can be expected to be released somewhere in October 2010, although this has not been confirmed by Universal nor the band. Side-Line heard a few tracks and we can reassure critics that that Komor’s production skills did quite a good work on the material.
Featuring the Prodigious synthesizer
The Prodigious synthesizer is a Mono/Poly instrument based in the architechture of a famous synthesiser from the past, complemented with a few more charachteristics from other well known machines, all combined into a single powerfull yet balanced, performance oriented instrument. It is ingredients are: two audio oscillators that can be self modulated by a third non audio oscillator (FM synthesis capability…) one fat 24db lowpass filter with self oscillation capabilities (and with the possibility of being modulated by the second oscillator, flexibility increased), dedicated envelopes for filter and volume contour, a powerful and flexible arpeggiator for those moments where the fingers are simply not that fast (just kidding…), a chorus effect section with three distinctively rich chorus modes (to thicken up things a bit) and to finalize a delay unit to bring out those spacey sounds to the front. – The result – a very temperamental instrument dressed with a graphical work to match.. Last but not least, it is packed with a full set of 128 presets that covers Basses, Leads, Pads, Strings, Keys, Organs (sort off..), Arpegiated and something in between.. and by the way it is fully automatable too. To install, simpy copy the Dll. file into your Vst plugin folder on your sequencer.

Recording with tons of hardware
They sure have a lot of gear running
“Sometimes I/people wonder if I need all those delays in the studio. This was merely an attempt to use most of them (62%?) in one recording.
Some people like fast cars, I like slow delays.Hard delays used in this recording:
Roland RE-201
Roland RE-301
Roland Re-501
Korg SDD-1200
Dynacord SRS-56
Aria AD-15 Locobox
AP S-303
TC Electronics D-Two
Ensoniq DP/2The main sounds come from four loops in Ableton Live.
The rest is Korg Mono/Poly, Stylophone and beer.”
