Ambience is reverb effect plug-in for Windows and Mac
Ambience is reverb effect plug-in for Windows and Mac (VST/AU; 32bit/64bit) that, according to its creator, “rivals the quality of the best commercial reverbs.”
Check out the demo and decide for yourself. You can download it via Smartelectronix.com. Details below.
Features:
- Separate dry/wet controls (set direct to -inf to use as a send effect.
- Reverb time & room size parameters.
- Predelay to set the amount of delay between the direct sound and the onset of the first echoes.
- Width control for setting mono/wide stereo.
- Quality knob for lower CPU usage (is less quality).
- Variation button creates a new variant of the same room.
- Damping section for bass and treble (control the decay time).
- EQ section for filtering frequencies.
- Gating allows the reverb to follow the dynamics of the audio input.
- Hold button freezes current sound.
- Diffusion for subtle effect on the sound. It is especially noticable with small room sizes.
Sylo Synthesiser features live time-stretching technology

Sylo Synthesizer is a free iPad synth that lets you build sounds from basic waveforms, or capture them using the iPad’s built-in microphone.
Sylo Synthesiser features live time-stretching technology based on granular synthesis, and a suite of filters.
Options include:
- Speed up or slow down a recorded sound to use as an instrument
- With a regular wavetable synthesiser, higher-pitched notes are also faster, like chipmunks, and lower-pitched notes are also slower, as though they are moving through treacle, Enable “Sync Speed” feature, though, and lower or higher-pitched notes still play back at the same speed, keeping them in sync with each other
- Adjust the speed control even while you’re playing notes: Slow, stop or even rewind the sound in the middle of notes — without changing the pitch
- Granular synthesis allows you to create instruments or effects from a recording, that do not sound like the original, yet retain its realistic, natural sound
- Frequency modulation, ring modulation, echo/delay, distortion, and a low-pass filter with resonance control are available
Sylo Synthesiser is a teaser for Sylo Synthesizer Pro, which adds these features:
- Use existing audio files as the building-blocks of your instrument: import audio from wave, aiff, mp3 and aac/m4a files
- Save recordings to your iPad or to Dropbox1 online storage
- Save your new instruments to the preset list for fast acces
DUY has released Z-Room, a free reverb effect
DUY has released Z-Room, a free reverb effect for RTAS, MAS, VST and Audiosuite.
Email address required for the free download. Details on Z-Room below.
Features:
- High quality density and diffusion provide an unparalleled sound quality.
- Total control over parameters which had never been available to the user before, with a friendly and intuitive user interface.
- Three modes: Deluxe, Economy and Earlies. The second allows to free processing time, and the third focuses the strength of the algorithm on the processing of Early Reflections.
- An exclusive Rehearsal Mode allows you to set the parameters while hearing the real impulse response of the reverb. This is one of the finest tools to evaluate the quality of the reverb.
- You can choose between several room responses (reverse, gate, hall, room, stage…). All these values can be modified with the Stretch and Pre-delay parameters.
- Processing time is freed when you choose not to include Early Reflections.
- Internal 64-bit processing.
- Independent mixing controls for each of the three selectable bands, as well as for the Direct, Early Reflections and Reverb signals.
- Total control over the iteration depth, with six levels of calculation.
- Over 50 presets are included.
- Z-Room is the only reverb that allows you to control the time base of the reverb’s algorithm.
- Visualization of the Direct, Early Reflections and Reverb signals in the time domain.
Pterosaur is a free 16-oscillator monosynth for Windows.
Free Music Software: Pterosaur is a free 16-oscillator monosynth for Windows.
The basic waveform of each oscillator is a sawtooth wave – but the “mod” control morphs it into a sort of saw-pulse hybrid.
It’s available as a free download via VSTPlanet.
Mopho – free VST
For fans of the Mopho but who cannot afford the hardware version
With the MOPHO VSTi it is really possible to get out every sound from this great analog synth!
The Vsti is free: http://code.google.com/p/ctrlr/downlo…
It`s there for windows and OSX!
I was really waiting for that VSTi because MIDI Implementation of MOPHO is not working with every controller, the MOPHO knobs are crappy and now I can finally use the APC 40 to control mophoI recommend headphones to hear the analog quality of this demo
Teach yourself on Synthesia

Synthesia, formerly called Piano Hero, is a free program plus game that teaches you to play the piano using visual cues like falling notes. Don’t worry if you can’t read sheet music, because you require none. Synthesia lets you learn to play the keyboard and also keep track of your progress.
To use Synthesia you will require a real piano or synthesizer, a Windows or Mac computer to run the game and MIDI files of the music you want to practice. There are plenty of free MIDI resources on the web. If your synthesizer is capable of connecting to your computer (via USB, MIDI cables, or an adapter) then Synthesia can read as you play and score your playing. If not, Synthesia lets you follow along on your own but without scoring.

Free MIDI metronome
KMetronome is a MIDI metronome with KDE interface, based on the ALSA sequencer. The intended audience is musicians and music students. Like solid, real metronomes it is a tool to keep the rhythm while playing musical instruments. It uses MIDI for sound generation instead of digital audio, allowing low CPU usage, and very accurate timing thanks to the ALSA sequencer.
