Propellerhead Software says that Record “has the feel of a million dollar recording studio with the streamlined simplicity of a tape deck”. For guitar players, the built-in virtual POD from Line 6 brings a wide range of guitar amps and cabinets. Record’s software mixer’s sound is faithfully modeled after the renowned SSL 9000K hardware with flexible routing, full dynamics, EQ, advanced effects handling and complete automation. With its dynamic multicore audio handling, Record uses a computer’s processing power to its fullest.
Seamless integration with Reason
Owners of Propellerhead Software’s Reason have seamless integration in Record with their Reason instruments and devices. Not only will Record open Reason files directly, if Reason is installed and registered, all Reason devices appear in Record’s rack without plugging-in or launching a second application. For Reason owners, Propellerhead offers a special sidegrade called Record for Reason Owners that provides a complete copy of Record and updates any version of Reason to work with Record. For new users who want to buy both together, Propellerhead offers Record + Reason Duo, a bundle of both programs in a single package.

New gear from KORG announced in Tokyo
Several new KORG products were introduced at the G-Roks studios. First one is a new Korg keyboard called the microSAMPLERX, intended for live performance, but a pc editor software is included as well. The SV-1 is a 60’s retro-design stage piano and finally the Wavedrum WD-X is a re-issue of the original Wavedrum from 1994. The new Wavedrum will have 24bit/48kHz high-quality DSP technology.

The open source MIDIBox soon to be released
I have posted on this little beauty before, but than there were not much to see – but now I must say we are up for a treat

MIDIbox is an open source hardware platform for making MIDI sequencers and controllers.
MIDIbox Sequencer Version 4 Demo
[0:00] The electronic harp is played by Sculpture (part of Logic Audio) – a Physical Modelling Synth which I really like!
[0:00] MBSEQV4 plays the 16-step sequence with a new “step progression” feature: on each 4 step interval, the step is triggered twice. In addition, a customized groove template is applied on the velocity to accent the notes based on the master measure. This results into a more complex sequence which varies on each beat, but still sounds nice and not too random!

[0:11] an Echo Fx is added with 64T delay. Note value is increased by +3 and forced to scale
[0:17] an additional VST synth is added which gets use of the new “step progression” feature as well
[0:21] Echo Fx: temporary increased to 6 repeats with +3 Note Value and +150% delay on each echo – let’s scrub the harp!

[2:05] now something completely different: a LFO is applied on the harp sequence with sine waveform and an interval of 4 steps. Force-to-Scale is enabled
[2:07] the LFO also sends a CC to Sculpture to vary the timbre.

Version 9 of FL Studio to be released in September

Roland has announced the AX-Synth Shoulder Synthesizer, the first of the legendary AX-Series to offer an onboard sound engine featuring a collection of the best of Roland’s cutting-edge synth sounds.
Created with the art of performance in mind, the AX-Synth allows keyboardists to connect with their audience as guitarists and singers do. Real-time controls such as the Ribbon, Modulation Bar, D BEAM, and aftertouch knob controllers give musicians the ability to perform memorable and expressive solos.
