Apollo – MIDI over Bluetooth for iOS and OSX
Apollo MIDI over Bluetooth provides MIDI connections for controllers, synthesizers, and sequencers, connecting a pair of iOS devices, or an iOS device and a Mac.

We are waiting for approval from Apple for the OSX version (which will be free). In the mean time, you can download this version. Once the OSX version is released, we would encourage you to download the one from the Mac app store (this will make updating the app much easier).
Connecting synthesizers and sequencers across multiple iOS devices has been challenging, and there have been few options. For wired connections, you need multiple MIDI adapters (either dedicated iOS devices, or a Camera Connection Kit and generic USB MIDI). WiFi MIDI can have too much latency and jitter, making it unusable for music applications.
With Apollo MIDI over Bluetooth, you can easily connect a pair of iOS devices, or an iOS device and a Mac, using Bluetooth LE. Bluetooth LE is designed for low latency — ideal for music applications.
Simply start the app on each device, select an “A” endpoint for one, and a “B” endpoint for the other, and then press search on both devices. They should detect each other, and connect quickly. Once they are connected, MIDI from one device will be sent to the other — the connection is bi-directional. On each device, you can select the MIDI destinations that you wish to forward messages to.
When connecting to a Mac, select the “A” endpoint for the iOS device; the Mac will be a “B” endpoint. Just as with the iOS set-up, press search on both devices, and they should connect quickly. With MIDI routing on a Mac, there is a danger of creating a loop in the routing (where MIDI messages get sent and relayed repeatedly). To avoid this problem, Apollo on the Mac either sends MIDI from iOS to the Mac, or vice versa — make sure that you toggle on the direction you need.
The apps require Bluetooth LE — this is available on the iPad3, iPad4, iPad Air, and iPad Mini. iPhones starting with the iPhone4S support Bluetooth LE. Newer Macs also support Bluetooth LE; older Macs may require a USB Bluetooth LE adapter (we have had good luck with the adapters from IO Gear and Ciraco).
Apollo has been designed to be simple to install and configure, and it should expand your MIDI capabilities easily.

Contemporary music ensemble Icebreaker will recreate crucial phase in electronic music history – Kraftwerk
Popular demand for all things Kraftwerk will continue in the new year, as contemporary music ensemble Icebreaker embark on a live show that aims to recreate the electronic band’s experimental early period. The tour kicks off at the London Science Museum on 24 January and is titled Kraftwerk Uncovered – A Future Past.
Announcing the concept, German composer, producer and sound-scapist J. Peter Schwalm said: “Our focus is on Kraftwerk’s early, semi-improvised music that combined acoustic and electronic instruments, [and that period’s] relationship to their career-defining albums from Trans Europa Express to Computer World.
“Where Kraftwerk’s aesthetic moved ever closer to the ‘man machine’ we aim to adopt a more ‘retro-futurist’ approach to find the ‘human’ inside the machine, beginning with Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider’s own early albums”.

THE VIDEOS FOR ‘EVIDENCE’ AND ‘TALK’

One day, I came across a very old, classic western-style building in a corner of Ginza-town in central Tokyo.
A building stood at the location well over 80 years. It’s one of a Tokyo’s relics of the past that survived war-fire and many earthquakes.
In the building, there are a couple of stairs around an old mechanical elevator. It used be an apartment but no one lives there anymore. Now galleries and antique stores occupy the building.
Walking through a narrow passage, I thought about the past and imagined how people lived here. Imagery of old silent films flashed into my imagination.
A few months later, I visited there again with my actor friends and a cinematographer. Because I couldn’t think of a better location for John Foxx And The Maths videos.
John’s music has a feeling of “déjà vu”. It’s always fresh but somehow nostalgic. Silhouette of a figure that walks through an old avenue; vague, indistinctive face . . That is the image created by his music. But some images of my own memories also came up.
Our cinematographer shot this film with a Canon camera. Before editing, it had sharply-defined shapes and vivid color, so I removed it all. Next, I adjusted the speed to express an eternal moment. Then I synchronized the music to the image and I found something was still missing.
By watching the film for many weeks I kept asking myself, ‘whats’ missing’? Then an idea came up to my mind to bring the film to perfection. The gaps of ‘scattered memories and missing time’ need to be added. So I decided to attach these ‘invisible moments’ to fill the gap. The film was finished by these invisible moments.
Ms. Cay in the video ‘Talk’ is a dancer and actress. She heads up a team of a worldwide performance unit called ‘Tokyo Dolores’.
This short song has uniqueness and a mystical sense of beauty; it brings me back the picture of surrealistic piece of art. Such dreams expressed in the film have a similar essence to a Japanese “tan-ka” poem.

Born in Tokyo. Began his career as a film director when he was at high school.
Since his debut, he’s expressed himself visually through feature length films, experimental film, documentary and MTV.
As a family of famous Manga-artist Osamu Tezuka, he supports to produce posthumous Manga and Anime works.
In 1999, he directed feature film called ‘Hakuchi: the innocent- ‘. It was invited and shown at The Venice International Film Festival.
In 2012, Directed a documentary film ‘Ogatsu ~the revival of the Houin Kagura Dance’.
His best known works are “MODELS (1987)”, “NARAKURE (1997)”, “EXPERIMENTAL FILM(1999)” and “BLACK KISS(2005)”. Contributed a short film on JOHN FOXX’s DVD “DNA”.
