Out by October 5th is the brand new album “Kindred Spirits” by the Dutch cult act Clan Of Xymox. The now Leipzig-based act recorded 11 cover versions for the occasion entirely played, sung and recorded by Ronny Moorings.

MMT — the distillation of Korg’s analog modeling technology
The microKORG XL+’s sound engine uses MMT (Multiple Modeling Technology), borrowing from Korg’s well proven wealth of analog modeling technology. The MMT sound engine has been featured on numerous products, and provides two oscillators that generate huge powerful sounds. Oscillator 1 (OSC1) gives you a total of seven types of oscillator algorithm to choose from, including formant waveforms such as human voice, and PCM/DWGS waveforms for vintage keyboard and strings. It also lets you use techniques that cannot be imitated on typical PCM synthesizers, such as cross modulation, unison, and VPM (Variable Phase Modulation). By taking advantage of modulation (sync or ring) with oscillator 2 (OSC2), it’s easy to create complex and powerful sounds.
Vocoder Function with Included Gooseneck Microphone
The microKORG XL+ can function as a powerful vocoder that lets you connect a mic and use its audio input to shape the tonal character of the oscillator’s sound to create “talking” effects. The vocoder consists of a 16-band filter bank that can simulate the vocoder sounds of the past and also shift the filter frequencies (Format Shift function) or adjust the level and pan of each band to dramatically change the sonic character. Using the Vocoder is an easy way to add sounds that can be found in today’s popular electronic music. Since a gooseneck microphone is included, you can immediately start using thevocoder in your songs.
The Powerful Effect Engine You Expect From Korg

For many keyboardists, the electric piano sound is just as critical as the acoustic piano sound. KROME features three types of electric pianos. OP-1 Demo House Track feat Nitro FX

Here is a demo of a quick house song I made while checking out what the new “Nitro” effects processor added in the new OS update is all about. Nitro is, or can be, many different types of effects depending on how you set it. As a base description it is a resonant bandpass filter with an envelope follower. You can use it as the following modes:
– Lowpass Filter (sounds like 12db to me)
– Highpass Filter (same sounding slope)
– Bandpass Filter
– Auto Wah
– Sine Generator
The envelope follower affects each filter in a different amount it seems with the Lowpass filter getting more of the frequency sweep (to my ears only, not proven). I am thrilled to finally be able to remove the low end frequencies from patches and particularly audio samples. You could always do this with the main bus EQ, but now you can target specific drum kits and synth engines as you lay them down to tape tracks. This was the single biggest omission from the OP-1 OS for me and now it is here and awesome!

Interview: Laura Escudé plays live at Sonic Towers
Laura Escudé is right at the sharp the edge of current music technology and controllerism, putting it to use on some of the largest stages – she’s just finished up the UK leg of the Kanye West and Jay-Z Watch The Throne tour where she’s been behind the scenes running Ableton Live for the music, backing tracks and live vocal effects that she designed into the production.
Being one of the first certified trainers for Ableton Live, she’s known for inventive programming and integration of Live into some major touring shows. Doors have opened for her combination of skills as a talented violinist and hardcore programmer, working with Kanye West, Bon Ivor, Herbie Hancock and Garbage as recent and repeat clients.
Laura also release and produces under her own right, when she came to our new studios in Bath, she performed a couple of tunes for us live in between chatting to Gaz Williams about her work and technology.
Laura’s latest solo project is ∆lluxe in which she embraces new electronic hip hop together with some full-on 80’s fashion.
