Mutemath performs Blood Pressure live in the Moog Sound Lab

May 9, 2013 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Mutemath performs Blood Pressure live in the Moog Sound Lab

Back in 2011 Mutemath stepped into the Moog factory to record a Moog Sound Lab Session, here they transform “Blood Pressure” from their 2011 LP “Odd Soul”.

For those of you curious about the instrumentation:

“Blood Pressure” fades in with Darren playing pulsing bass lines in the verse and higher etherial notes on Animoog, being controlled by a Minimoog Voyager.

Paul sings and plays a Little Phatty Stage II, holding out elongated single lines while opening and closing the Filter Cutoff knob with the Resonance set high.

Roy uses his Minimoog Voyager Select Series for low rumbling bass to hold the foundation.

Darren plays the Trap-Kat, triggering 3 Minimoog Voyager Rack Mounts through an MF-104Z Analog Delay for rhythmic echo.

Max/MSP experimentation – Quantum Live

May 9, 2013 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Max/MSP experimentation – Quantum Live

More info on this cool little experiment can be found here:

http://monome.org/docs/app:quantum

How it works:

quantum maps arbitrary note values to objects in juggling patterns. higher notes correspond to higher throws by default, but any value can be assigned. additionally, the program allows for a distinction between the left and right hands. note triggers are set to the peak of each object, rather than the traditional catching or throwing position. this produces unexpected rhythmic variations, and allows for chords to exist.

MacBeth: NEXUS TEST (5) WITH KORG SQ10 SEQ

May 9, 2013 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on MacBeth: NEXUS TEST (5) WITH KORG SQ10 SEQ

Well after 5 teaser videos from MacBeth on the Nexus it sure seems like the new synth is coming together nicely :-)

“When I’m testing gear that I’m designing- it’s quite exciting!….sometime I have to record/vid. Here is three of the NEXUS (prototype) being driven by a Korg SQ-10 sequencer- the fourth osc is cross modding the higher pitched square wave osc. It’s great fun running a three track analogue sequencer into this thing! Spacey effects are as usual with this device- the Dual Tape Delay Simulators- no other effects! Today- on screen- I basically finished the synthesizer. I’m looking forward to submitting the data to manufacture next week…! This btw is basically two different experiments filmed at different times…”

PPG WaveGenerator Editing Tutorial From Wolfgang Palm

May 8, 2013 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on PPG WaveGenerator Editing Tutorial From Wolfgang Palm

Wolfgang Palm shows how to edit a sound in PPG WaveGenerator for iPad.

For more information visit http://wolfgangpalm.com

Product description:

The PPG WaveGenerator comes with a multitude of wavetables. The sound material contains the typical sounds from the original PPG wave models, as well as many new sounds generated by versatile analysis tools and also hand edited waves.
This app enables the user, to create his own wavetables in a playful way, and to hear the result immediately. Also you can construct the waves by adding harmonics very precise.
Another way is to transform a picture into a wavetable. You can load photos from your album or even shoot a picture with the camera.
The waves are collected in a grid of 256 fields, to which the 3 oscillators of the synthesizer have arbitrary and independent access.
In a 3D display you get a visual impression on how the sound evolves. You can turn around the 3D object and zoom in and out,
The Parameters of the synthesizer are divided into modules, which allows easy, yet powerful editing.
It contains 3 oscillators with independent control of pitch and waveform. Each oscillator has its own glide, which gives a very dynamic sound.
With a sophisticated routing system, the diverse modulation sources can be connected to all important control points.
The keyboard is configurable totally freely, so you can setup all well-known musical scales, but also all imaginable custom scales that best fit into your music.
PPG WaveGenerator benefits all advantages of the iPad, like X/Y control after the key on event, or two finder gestures for spectrum control. After a key is hit, the tone may be modified and modulated in various ways, just by moving your finger.
A comfortable browser lets you sort the sound programs; you can categorize and rate them. Also complete custom sound banks may be created.
All significant parameters are controllable via MIDI.
There is a built in context specific help for all pages and modules.
