Music Iphone Ipad App demo of aubit. There is not much to this music app, although it’s quite neat. You place your finger on the screen which generates a circle that moves around the screen. The longer you hold down the bigger the circle becomes. Once you have more than one circle they will collide with each other making tones until they fade away. The app is free and you can download it at the link below.

Time machine: KORG Polysix
The Korg Polysix’ main features are six-voice polyphony (with unison and chord memory voice assignment modes), 32 memory slots for patches and cassette port for backing up patches, and an arpeggiator.
On its release it was, along with the Roland Juno 6 released around the same time, one of the first times a polyphonic analog synthesizer was available at a cost effective price ‘for the masses’. It cost about twice as much as the competing Juno 6 but had far more features and ‘real’ VCOs in place of the Juno’s DCOs. It also had on-board patch storage and back up which the cheaper Juno lacked until the upgraded Juno 60 model.
Korg developed the Polysix with an eye on the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, trying to provide some of the features found on the more expensive synth in a compact, reliable and much cheaper design. While not as powerful, it used SSM2044 4-pole voltage-controlled, giving the Polysix a warm, rounded and organic sound.
Although the Polysix only had one oscillator per voice, it also featured built chorus, phaser and ‘ensemble’ effects (using a ‘bucket brigade’ analog delay line design), to provide a fuller sound.

Free Ableton Live AfroDJRack #60: Tape Hiss and Vinyl Crackle. This package contains 16 samples of tape hiss and vinyl crackle noises, a drum rack that allows you to effect them and put them together rhythmically, as well as an instrument rack that makes any synth sound as if it were sampled from tape or vinyl. After busting out my old Ka-Boom Box, and dusting off what remains of my cassette tape collection, I started sampling empty sections of the tapes. While I was at it, I took out some vinyl records of varying condition, sampled those, and grabbed a few minutes of tape noise from my Tascam Reel to Reel (the bad boy used on the Super Tape Drums Ableton Pack). I’ve used those samples to create a pretty excellent Ableton Live Pack for you all!
Playing the Wurlitzer SideMan (vintage 1950’s drummachine) with MIDI retrofit
The SideMan is a drum machine from 1959 that fires valves/tubes to generate the tones, which are then passed trough a tube amp. The cigar box houses Doepfer MTC components and a direct line out. Interconnect is over DB37, fed into the SideMan from underneath. No drilling or irreversible mods were done to the SideMan, although I did tweak it a bit to get a longer decay from the kick bass.
A lot of thanks to Eric Noel, who gave his time, expertise and some of the Doepfer components to this project; and to Steve Craig (Midwest Music Menders), who patiently repaired the SideMan when I acquired it in “almost working” condition.
