Aesthetics – new soundset for the Diva virtual analog synthesizer
3ee Sound Design has announced the release of Aesthetics, a soundset for the Diva virtual analog synthesizer by u-he.
Aesthetics is a collection of 64 instruments for the great u-he Diva synthesizer. The basic idea of creating diverse, solid and playable, sweet-spot instruments that were tweaked to perfection with no particular genre or style in mind was very effective.
All instruments within this collection were created by 3ee and were optimized with modulation wheel and pressure controls. (exception, no control assignments for the Poly_String Chest2 patch)
The Aesthetics soundset is available to purchase at the price you want to pay ($7 USD mimimum). A free demo pack is available to download from the product page.
Download Moby’s new remix of iamamiwhoami’s “y”
Moby shared his remix of iamamiwhoami’s y.
Here’s what Moby has to say about it:
i first heard iamamiwhoami at a restaurant in london a few years ago. after hearing them i emailed my manager, eric, and asked ‘have you heard of this band iamamiwhoami?’ and he wrote back, ‘yes, we manage them’.
when they asked me to do a remix for them i happily said ‘yes’, as i’m a fan of theirs. and when i heard the song they wanted me to remix i realized that i didn’t want to deconstruct it and change it, but rather just add melodic and structural elements to it, to enhance what they’d already done.
Enjoy
“Reverse Polygons” – Elektron MonoMachine & DSI Evolver
Often changing from even to odd time meter. Reverse Effect parts from Lexicon MX300 preset. Sequenced on Elektron MonoMachine SFX-60 Mk1, and sound fx added with DSI MonoEvolver keyboard.
It’s mostly the MonoMachine you are hearing, the Evolver comes in at around (0:23) with a buzzing outdoor ambient like texture. The point of this piece isn’t for the listener to figure out the time signature counts, rather listen for where the drums rhythmically modulate meter from a fusion feel to a half time feel, as it does here (1:01) back to fusion feel (1:14) etc…from this perspective you can hear over the barlines easier.

Apps: Impaktor iPad demonstration
Impaktor is a drum synthesizer with a vast sonic palette, that turns any surface into a playable percussion instrument.
You just slap your desk like you would a real drum. The real acoustical impulses from the built-in microphone are used as an excitation source for advanced sound modules that simulates behavior of membranes, cymbals, metallophones or strings. This makes Impaktor a highly responsive and expressive instrument.
With semi-modular architecture and several types of synthesis, Impaktor can produce a wide range of tones, from acoustic, like Tabla, Djembe, Marimba, Cymbals, Metal bars to electronic or industrial sounds.
– Synthesis: physical modeling, frequency modulation, noise shaping
– Semi-modular architecture; 2 modules with configurable routing
– 2 modulation sources: velocity and lfo-envelope. Almost every parameter can be modulated
– Multimode filter, harmonic exciter and several types of amplifiers
– Over 90 presets available, more coming soon
– No samples used
– Ultra low latency

Korg Polysix with Aftertouch
This video demonstrates the capabilities of the New England Analog Pyxis Aftertouch System when installed in a Korg Polysix. The Pyxis allows players to modulate pitch, filter, volume, and pulse width using key pressure. This mod makes the Polysix sound like a much more expensive synth!

Funkagenda – How to create anthemic synth sounds in Sylenth1
In this You Tube exclusive video DJ/Producer Funkagenda explains how to create from scratch that classic Anthemic Mainroom sound using the Lennar Digital Sylenth1 software synth.
Sylenth1 is a virtual analog VSTi synthesizer that takes the definitions of quality and performance to a higher level. Until now only very few software synthesizers have been able to stand up to the sound quality standards of hardware synths. Sylenth1 is one that does.
Sylenth1 is not just another synth. It was built from a producer’s point of view. It was built to produce superior quality sound and music. It was built to perform. A lot of research has been invested in order to achieve unheard warmth and clarity. The graphical interface ensures the highest level of usability so you can fully unleash your creativity.
